NDA improves its strength in Rajya Sabha

New Delhi July 31: The political equation will soon change.
NDA government has inched closed for acquiring halfway mark in
Rajya Sabha. Currently, there are 243 members in Upper house and governments requires 122 members to pass any bill.




The scenario is as follows

* BJP has 57 members
* Total strength of NDA is 79.
* JDU is back in the alliance so total strength goes up to 89.
* BJP will win 2 seats in ongoing elections of Rajya Sabha.
* Regional parties such as TRS, AIADMK, BJD, YSRCP, INLD
  together have 26 members and would vote for the government.
* 4 nominated members would also support so total to 121.
* Recent win in Uttar Pradesh would also give a boost to the government.

Let's hope that government utilizes this opportunity so that key bills are passed.

200 Indian students marooned in Houston floods

latestnews1947:  Two hundred Indian students of the University of Houston have been marooned in floods in the wake of tropical storm Harvey causing heavy rains and flooding in America's fourth largest city. Two Indian students are in the intensive care unit (ICU) of a hospital, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj said on Monday. "@CGHoust has informed me that 200 Indian students at University of Houston are marooned. They are surrounded by neck deep water," Sushma Swaraj tweeted. "We made efforts for delivery of food but US Coast Guard did not allow as boats were required for rescue operations," she said. Stating that Indian Consul General in Houston Anupam Ray was organising the rescue operations, Sushma Swaraj said in a separate tweet: "Indian students Shalini and Nikhil Bhatia are in ICU. Dont worry about violence in other states, Kerala BJP tells CPI-M, Congress
