LG launches new lineup of speakers

latestnews1947: Expanding its convergent audio video (CAV) category, LG on Tuesday launched three new speakers with improved features in India.


The three speakers -- SJ5 Sound Bar System, FJ5 or X Boom 'Party Maker' and the OJ98 or X Boom 'Typhoon' -- are now available in retail stores. 

"With the introduction of this new lineup, we are offering a well-rounded entertainment solution to our consumers. The range will serve as a total enjoyment hub, providing both powerful sound and wireless connectivity," Younchul Park, Director- Home Electronics, LG Electronics India, said in a statement. 

Priced at Rs 29,990, the SJ5 Sound Bar System has a 320-watt sound quality and can be clubbed with the TV. This speaker system has 4K Sound and supports like WAV, FLAC, and ALAC audio formats. 

The LG X Boom 'Party Maker', priced at Rs 27,990, boasts of a 15-inch woofer and recessed wheels that make it one of the most portable speakers. 

The X Boom 'Typhoon' is the most premium offering in this lineup. Available for Rs 45,999, the speaker comes with a dual subwoofer allowing 1,800-watt output and a 'Blast Horn' to enhance the re-booming effects.

200 Indian students marooned in Houston floods

latestnews1947:  Two hundred Indian students of the University of Houston have been marooned in floods in the wake of tropical storm Harvey causing heavy rains and flooding in America's fourth largest city. Two Indian students are in the intensive care unit (ICU) of a hospital, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj said on Monday. "@CGHoust has informed me that 200 Indian students at University of Houston are marooned. They are surrounded by neck deep water," Sushma Swaraj tweeted. "We made efforts for delivery of food but US Coast Guard did not allow as boats were required for rescue operations," she said. Stating that Indian Consul General in Houston Anupam Ray was organising the rescue operations, Sushma Swaraj said in a separate tweet: "Indian students Shalini and Nikhil Bhatia are in ICU.
